Sierra Leone – April 2011

30 Apr

Dear Brethren,

I would like to try and share with you some of the events that have taken place here in Sierra Leone since we arrived on the 19th of April.

When Nancy and I were here before, we learned that Brother French’s youngest daughter, Tina, was to be married and I felt a quickening in the Spirit to attend. I mentioned it to my wife and we agreed that we would begin to pray about the will of God concerning it. As we began to pray, the Lord began to reveal to me that He wanted to use this opportunity as an occasion against the Philistines, much like the story told in Judges of Samson and the bride from Timnath[1]. Many of these African nations are under the hand of princes of hell that have only one objective and that is to conform the entirety of their subject to the image of death and perdition, inflicting upon them as much misery, poverty, and perversion as possible. It is the plan and the purpose of God to loose them from that bondage.

I was to be joined in the first part of the this journey by Brother Hubert Manilla and his wife, Sister Domo, and Brother Hubert’s brother, Mike Manilla. They were supposed to have arrived before me, but as things worked out, their plane was delayed and I arrived before them. My arrival in the Freetown airport was something of a sensation. I was flying Air France into Freetown from Paris and it would seem that the flight that I was on was the first flight by Air France to Sierra Leone since the war and there had been much preparation at the airport to receive us. There was quite a crowd and festivities had been put in place for the event. I was asked as I was deplaning if I would like to join the party; I declined by saying that I had my own event to attend. Now you might think that it is happenstance and it has no reality in our experience that we have in this world. But you would be mistaken if that is your assessment. We are spiritual people living in a spiritual environment under the jurisdiction of a living God. Everything, and I mean everything, that happens to us and around us is pertinent to that spiritual world and our existence in it.[2] It would seem to me that in the midst of what was going on in that event at the airport, there was a scripture, a word of God that He was speaking to me. The content of that word can be found in a number of scriptures beginning withMatthew 22:2, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son. I find it amazing that God uses what I call micro events with individuals throughout the world to indicate or herald the coming of His Son. It is not circumstantial that Jesus Christ began His ministry at a wedding at the behest of His mother, and it was the turning of water to wine that was emphasized. I see it as a precedence being set by God for the church in light of the scripture that I have quoted above. A precedence of the beginning of and the power therein that will be apportioned to the First Fruits Company in the administration of the Word of God. This thought, I believe, is substantiated in Revelation 11:3, And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. The amplified says it in this way, And I will grant the power of prophecy to My two witnesses for 1,260 (42 months; three and one-half years), dressed in sackcloth. What I hear God saying is that there is an authority that He is granting to His word that has the ability to be manifested in a greater way than the church has heretofore experienced. Water is always indicative of the Word[3] whereas wine is always indicative of the Word with spirit power. [4] I awoke the other morning with the song singing in my mind, “… possess the land from Jordan to the sea…” it is now our time to take the kingdom. It is that thought that brings me back to the reason that God sent me here.

There was an occasion that God desired against the prince and their palities that have ruled in this country of Sierra Leone. There are many traditions that are supposed to be observed in the marrying ritual, all of which have their roots in ancestral worship and the prince of hell that the scriptures call Dagon which is the prince of sexuality. If you remember it was in the temple of Dagon that the ark was brought into when the Philistine’s captured it[5]. It was also the place in the temple of Dagon that God brought the prince to his knees in recognizing the supremacy of God’s authority[6] and in the end broke the power.[7]

The Bible says in Romans 10:14, How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! And God sent a brother and his wife, Brother Hubert and Sister Domo Manilla, to bring the Word of God and correction into the situation. I have to say that they did an excellent job. The Word of God concerning Holy Matrimony confronted many of the satanic practices that are usually imposed upon a couple when they are married. It brings home to me the reality of truth as to how we perform such weddings and the responsibility that we have, both as ministry and as congregational participants, to ensure that the path of righteousness is adhered to and followed under the jurisdiction of the Holy Spirit. It is God’s plan and purpose to bring down every high thing that will exalt itself against the knowledge of God.

The success of the mission is being realized in the spiritual activity that we have been experiencing since that time. Many dreams and visions that have been coming confirm the victory that has been achieved in this activity, and the attacks on the church are increasing, not only locally, but also in other parts of the world.

Since the wedding, we have been having meetings every night with question and answer times following. We have been going through the Tabernacle one piece of furniture at a time. It has been repeatedly brought to my attention that we, as Christians who profess the position of the Holy Place church, know very little about what it is that we have, are what it is that we should be or, for that fact, what is that God will hold us accountable for. There is one mission statement that defines the whole purpose of God and it is that we must decrease and He must increase. In other words, it is Christ in us that is the hope of Glory.

The news of Brother David Wilkerson and his wife has just recently been given to me. In the midst of the shock of it, I believe the Lord spoke to me concerning it. It is something that I have shared with my family and close friends and I would like to share it with you now. As the news of the accident came, the word of the Lord spoke to me and was confirmed to me in a text message that I received from a friend. It was only once before in a similar situation that the Lord spoke to me about the untimely death of a saint. II Samuel 1:19, The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen! 20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph. Oh, may God help us in this time of battle. May God give us the strength to press the battle to the gate for the sake of our fallen comrades who have paid such a great price. It is the time of battle and the war rages. It is the vision I had of the killing machine coming against the elect of God. We rejoice in the provision of the Kingdom for the sake of our brother and his family, but I feel the grief over the loss of my comrade-in-arms who has fought well and with honor, that he would not stand in amongst the First Fruits of God. The violence of his death is evidence of the rage of hell against him and the prophetic anointing that was upon him. That it would happen on the brink of his word for the end time that is about to come to pass is not something that I can afford to ignore.

Most sincerely,

Brother Burt Asbill
